Our Story
When the pandemic began, we suddenly couldn’t visit Grandpa anymore.
He was in a caregiver home, and the lockdown doors stayed shut for months.
Phone calls were difficult; he struggled with longer conversations, forgot his daily tasks, and sometimes couldn’t even hang up the phone properly. There were days we couldn’t reach him at all. And while two beautiful, great-grandchildren were born during that time, Grandpa could only see them in photos.
It was heartbreaking, not just for us. Across the world, so many seniors suddenly lost the daily help, structure, and visits they had relied on. Without family and friends dropping by, small tasks became overwhelming, and loneliness crept in.
That’s why we created SideBySide, an app designed to help seniors feel supported, connected, and cared for, even when loved ones are unable to be physically present.
